MacroMonitor
Real-time UK economic nowcasts
The UCL MacroMonitor provides reliable and timely signals for the UK economy for policymakers, business, academics, and the media. While official GDP and inflation data take months to be finalised, decision-makers cannot afford to wait. This public dashboard – developed by leading academics using frontier methodologies – offers nowcasts and forecasts for UK GDP growth and inflation, and provides a reference point for public debate and private sector decision-making.
The UCL MacroMonitor is a research initiative of UCL’s Department of Economics, led by Daniel Lewis, Raffaella Giacomini, and Lars Nesheim and supported by a team of Ph.D. students. Launched in June 2026, the dashboard offers weekly updates for GDP every Monday and monthly updates for inflation the day following the ONS release. The team can be reached at contact@macromonitor.org.
